Johnson County Jail Roster
The official Johnson County inmate roster is published by the Johnson County Sheriff's Office at jocomosheriff.org/roster.php. Sheriff Scott W. Munsterman's office operates the local custody site and the Johnson County Detention Center in Centerview, Missouri. The roster is free to view and did not show a login requirement during research. It is built as a browse and sort roster, not as a free-text search form. That difference matters. A user who expects a search box will need to use the page controls, sort by name or booking date, move through the page links, or use browser find.
The roster has Current and Released tabs. It also has Name and Date sorting, newest-to-oldest and oldest-to-newest date options, pagination, and View Profile links. The current roster count changed during research, which confirms that the listing is live and should be treated as a custody snapshot. Johnson County inmate records on the roster are most useful for people held at the county jail now or released recently. They do not replace Missouri court records, state prison records, federal custody records, or immigration detention records.
The official Johnson County roster page is shown in the roster screenshot matched to this page.
The screenshot reflects the roster layout readers should expect: inmate cards, mugshots, booking numbers, charges, bonds, page navigation, and a profile link for each listed person.
Use Johnson County Records
A Johnson County inmate record search should begin with the Current tab when the person is believed to be in custody. Use Date if the arrest or booking is recent. Use Name when an alphabetical scan is easier. Because the roster is paginated, the first screen is not the full jail population. Released should be checked when the person was in custody but no longer appears under Current. For bond, case number, or custody confirmation, call the detention center before relying on a profile alone.
- Open the Johnson County Sheriff's Office inmate roster.
- Start on Current for active Johnson County Detention Center custody.
- Use Date or Sort Newest to Oldest for recent bookings.
- Use Name if an alphabetical roster view is more useful.
- Check Released if the person was recently booked but is not under Current.
- Move through pagination because the roster spans more than one page.
- Open View Profile for the matching person.
- Call 660-747-6469 before posting bond or treating charges and bail as final.
Johnson County inmate records can include outside-agency holds as well as Johnson County Sheriff arrests. Research found roster examples labeled KCPD HOLD, Blue Springs hold, and Independence hold. That means a person on the Johnson County roster may have been arrested by a city or another agency, then housed at the Johnson County Detention Center. The roster is still the local custody source, but the arresting agency and later court case may point outside a simple county-deputy arrest path.
Johnson County Roster Fields
The Johnson County roster does not show a visible keyword search box in the captured page. Its controls are links, tabs, sort choices, and page navigation. That makes it closer to a public custody ledger than a database form. The field table below follows the research inventory for the roster controls actually documented on the sheriff site.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name | Link / filter | No | Sorts or browses the Johnson County inmate roster by name. |
| Date | Link / filter | No | Sorts or browses by booking date. |
| Current | Tab / filter | No | Shows people currently listed in Johnson County jail custody. |
| Released | Tab / filter | No | Shows recently released roster entries. |
| Sort Newest to Oldest | Link / sort | No | Places recent booking dates first. |
| Sort Oldest to Newest | Link / sort | No | Places older booking dates first. |
| Pagination | Page links | No | Observed controls included arrows and numbered pages. |
| View Profile >>> | Action link | No | Opens the individual Johnson County inmate profile. |
There is no need to create an account for this roster. If a name does not appear, check spelling, scan both Current and Released, and try the date sort. A missing record can mean release, transfer, state prison placement, federal custody, immigration custody, a sealed or restricted record, or a timing gap before the public roster updates.
Note: The sheriff roster is the official local source, but detention staff should confirm urgent custody or bond details.
Johnson County Inmate Profiles
A Johnson County inmate profile gives more detail than the roster card. The inspected sample profile showed a mugshot, numeric booking number, age, gender, race, arresting agency, booking date, charges, bond, and a sheriff warning that charges and bail can change after court appearances. It also directed people posting bail or bond companies to call detention staff for correct bail amounts, charges, and case numbers. That warning should be taken seriously because court events can change release terms before the web profile is refreshed.
The sample Johnson County roster profile captured for this project shows the profile-level layout and bond disclaimer.
The profile screenshot is useful because it shows where the roster card expands into arresting agency, demographic fields, charge details, and the bond notice.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Full public roster name on the Johnson County inmate profile. |
| Mugshot | Single booking photo or roster image for the custody event. |
| Booking # | Numeric jail booking identifier assigned during intake. |
| Age / Gender / Race | Limited demographic fields; date of birth was not shown in the observed profile. |
| Arresting Agency | Agency linked to the arrest, booking, or hold. |
| Booking Date | Date and time the person was booked into jail. |
| Charges | Charge code or statute-like string with a plain description. |
| Bond | Bond amount shown by the roster, subject to the sheriff's currentness warning. |
| Profile Note | Directs people to call detention staff before relying on bail, charge, or case details. |
The observed public profile did not show height, weight, eye color, hair color, date of birth, housing unit, warrant number, judge, next court date, release date, projected release date, or multiple photo angles. Those limits help explain why a person may need the jail phone line, a records request, Missouri Case.net, or the Johnson County Circuit Clerk after the basic roster check.
Johnson County Custody Channels
Johnson County inmate records have several access paths because custody can move from arrest to jail, court, state prison, federal prison, immigration detention, or victim notification. The county roster is first for the Johnson County Detention Center. The phone line is best for urgent custody, bond, charge, and case-number checks. The sheriff records-request page is the fallback for booking records, incident information, or copies not posted online. After formal charges are filed, Missouri court records and prosecutor disclosure rules become more important than the jail roster.
| Need | Use This Source | Best Fit |
|---|---|---|
| Current or recent county jail custody | Johnson County inmate roster | Johnson County Detention Center bookings and releases. |
| Custody, bond, charge, or case confirmation | 660-747-6469 | Time-sensitive jail information before posting bond. |
| Copies or records not posted online | Sheriff records request | Booking records, incident information, or public-record requests. |
| Filed charges and court dates | Missouri Case.net | Court case records after charges are filed. |
| State prison, probation, or parole | Missouri DOC Offender Search | Active supervised offenders, probationers, and parolees. |
| Federal prison | BOP inmate locator | Federal inmates from 1982 to present. |
| Immigration detention | ICE Online Detainee Locator | ICE custody checks; no Johnson County ICE facility was found. |
| Custody alerts | VINELink | Custody-status lookup and victim notification. |
No dedicated Johnson County Sheriff mobile app was found in the research. HomeWAV has a mobile app for jail communication and video visitation, but it is not an official Johnson County inmate roster app. Generic roster apps surfaced in searches, but they were not confirmed as official Johnson County access channels.
Johnson County Detention Center
The Johnson County Detention Center is the only detention facility in the Johnson County facility map. It is operated by the Johnson County Sheriff's Office and serves as the county jail for local pretrial custody, local post-conviction custody, state and city detainees, and some outside-agency holds. The official detention page reports a capacity of 200 detainees and an average population of 175 detainees. Those figures are facility facts, not a promise that the public roster count will match at any given hour.
Johnson County Detention Center
278 SW 871st Road
Centerview, MO 64019
660-747-6469
Administrative hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
The jail is west of the Warrensburg court campus, so visitors should not confuse it with the Johnson County Justice Center at 101 W. Market Street. Jail custody, visitation, bond, money, and records-routing questions start with the detention center. Court filings, prosecutor records, hearing dates, and case dockets route through the Justice Center or Missouri Case.net after charges are filed.
A deeper facility profile is available at the Johnson County Detention Center page.
Johnson County Booking Records
Johnson County-specific sources do not publish a full intake checklist, but the roster shows the public result of booking. A person may enter the jail after a sheriff arrest, city police arrest, state officer arrest, court commitment, transfer, or hold request from another agency. Intake creates or updates the jail record, assigns a booking number, captures a booking image, records basic demographics, identifies the arresting agency, lists charges or holds, and attaches bond information when available.
Booking is not the same as conviction. A roster charge is an allegation, hold, or custody reason tied to a jail event. Formal criminal charges, amendments, dismissals, pleas, and dispositions belong in court records after the prosecutor files a case. For that next stage, Johnson County users should check Case.net or the Circuit Clerk. For custody and booking status, the jail roster and detention phone line stay more direct.
- Booking
- Jail intake after arrest, transfer, court order, or hold.
- Booking number
- The jail identifier assigned to the custody event.
- Charge
- An alleged offense or custody reason listed by the jail or court.
- Bond
- A court-authorized release condition or money amount.
- Hold
- A request or reason to keep a person for another agency or court.
Note: A person can remain in custody after one bond is addressed if another hold or no-bond order exists.
Johnson County Visit Records
Johnson County uses HomeWAV for voice calls, video visitation, eMessaging, mail scanning, commissary integration, law library access, and tablets. The sheriff's Video / Phone Visitation page directs computer users to HomeWAV, and mobile users can use the HomeWAV app for communication services. Account setup requires a head-on, shoulders-up, unfiltered profile photo and a clear government ID image such as a license, state ID, or passport. The sheriff page says most accounts are reviewed within 24 hours and that review usually does not take more than two days.
| Service | Vendor / Method | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Voice calls | HomeWAV | Inmate voice communication through the jail's HomeWAV system. |
| Video visitation | HomeWAV | Account required and subject to detention facility approval. |
| eMessaging | HomeWAV | Listed by the sheriff as part of HomeWAV services. |
| Tablets / law library | HomeWAV | Listed as part of Johnson County jail services. |
| Account funds | HomeWAV account | Users add communication funds through the account payment flow. |
| Payment methods | Card, PayNearMe, app, web, phone system | Payment options are handled through the vendor process. |
| Visit Schedule Item | Published Johnson County Detail | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Video visitation | Handled through HomeWAV account approval. | Create the account and wait for review before planning a visit. |
| In-person day schedule | No official public day/time schedule was located in the sheriff pages. | Call 660-747-6469 before arriving. |
| Account review timing | Usually within 24 hours and usually no more than two days. | Start setup before the intended visit date. |
| ID requirement | Government ID image required for HomeWAV account setup. | Use a clear license, state ID, or passport image. |
The research did not locate a public in-person visitation day and time schedule on the sheriff pages beyond HomeWAV setup instructions. Anyone planning to visit should create or verify the HomeWAV account and call 660-747-6469 before arrival for current in-person visit rules, ID needs, lockdowns, holiday changes, or dress-code questions.
Johnson County Mail Money
Johnson County jail mail and commissary rules changed under the sheriff's official notice. Keefe Commissary Group and Access Corrections handle commissary and deposits. The lobby kiosk accepts cash and debit or credit cards. Front-desk money is not accepted, and mailed money orders are no longer accepted. Books and inmate property are not accepted through regular mail and are made available through Keefe or inmate tablets when offered.
| Topic | Rule / Address / Method | Source Note |
|---|---|---|
| Commissary vendor | Keefe Commissary Group | Named in the sheriff's official mail and commissary notice. |
| Deposit kiosk | Front lobby kiosk | Accepts cash and debit or credit cards. |
| Online deposits | Access Corrections | Used for commissary and deposit payments. |
| Front desk money | Not accepted | Do not bring money to the front desk for deposit. |
| Money orders | Not accepted by mail | Mailed money orders are returned to sender. |
| Scanned mail | Johnson County Jail, Inmate Name - Booking #, PO Box 1042 PMB 39193, San Antonio, TX 78294-1042 | Use this format for non-legal scanned mail. |
| Facility mail | Legal or privileged mail only | Only privileged mail goes to the facility address. |
The sheriff's mail and commissary notice explains the Johnson County change to Keefe, Access Corrections, kiosk deposits, and the scanned-mail address.
Confirm custody before adding funds. A person who has bonded out, moved to DOC, or transferred to another agency may no longer be served by the Johnson County jail deposit or mail process.
Missouri Federal ICE Records
Johnson County inmate records cover county jail custody. Once a person is sentenced to Missouri Department of Corrections custody, placed on active probation or parole, or moved to a state prison, the county roster is no longer the main search tool. Use the Missouri DOC Offender Search for active supervised offenders, probationers, and parolees. DOC records may omit discharged offenders and some information for safety, security, or confidentiality reasons.
The Missouri DOC Offender Search landing page is one of the success images assigned to Johnson County inmate records.
The DOC image reinforces the custody split: county jail records belong on the sheriff roster, while prison, probation, and parole records move to the state system.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | Important Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Johnson County jail | Johnson County Sheriff's Office roster | Current and released county jail listings, with no free-text search box observed. |
| Missouri prison / supervision | Missouri DOC Offender Search | Active supervised offenders, probationers, and parolees only. |
| Federal custody | Federal BOP inmate locator | Federal inmates from 1982 to present; no Johnson County BOP facility found. |
| ICE custody | ICE Online Detainee Locator | JavaScript required; no Johnson County ICE detention facility found. |
Federal custody uses the BOP inmate locator. Immigration custody uses ICE ODLS. VINELink is separate from all three and can help with custody-status lookup and notification, especially for victims or people tracking a release event.
